Founded in 1956 and named for Hillsboro Lighthouse, which has stood guard over Hillsboro Inlet since 1906, Lighthouse Point is surrounded by other communities and will always remain a small town. Residents like this aspect of life in Lighthouse Point. Growth and expansion is not possible, and that is valued by the city’s 11,000 plus residents.
